Troughout a quarter of a century a certain gentleman Richard Marcus has earned a fortune by cheating on every possible casino in the world. With his doubtful skills he has become a true living legend and world famous...
In this article Casinoportalen brings you the story about his most used trick - a trick named after a stripper. A funny coincidence since he has achived to "stripp off" casinos for more than 5 million dollars during his career.
The good offer
Some people say that the boundery between genius and madness is fine as a hair. The same goes for the boundary between being a skilful player and a skilful swindler. The player and the swindler have some of the same abilities; they know the game to the fullest, they have courage, they have the guts to gamble, they're cool and they have the ability to keep calm whenever they're under pressure. Lastly, they know when it's time to stop.
Richard Marcus was a great player before he became a swindler. Moreover, he has been a dealer at a casino, and the knowledge he got trough this was crucial for his future.
Richard Marcus was at work as he one day got an offer from a man called Classon. Classon knew that Marcus had exellent skills playing at casinos. Therefore he offered Marcus to be part of his team. This was an offer Marcus could'nt resist. He knew it was dangerous, but Marcus went to serve his apprenticeship as a pro casino swindler.
Innovative Striptease
Classon became Marcus’ teacher, leader, mentor and father figure. Classon taught Marcus everything about casino swindle and urged him to make up his own ideas. This was exactly what Marcus did one night at a strip bar. While Marcus sat at the strip bar he puzzled with an idea, and in the moment a stripper lab danced in front of him the idea was borned - he named his idea Savannah - the name of the stripper...
The idea behind Savannah was to place three red 5-dollars counters in a pile on the roulette tablet. This was such a small stake that the dealer hardly took notice of it. If Marcus won, he would jump up shouting happily. As the dealer turned his attention towards Marcus wondering why he was so exited about the small amount of money he had won, Marcus pointed at his pile and the red $5 counters and said: "Sir, my brown counter under the red ones...". And yes, - when the dealer lifted the red counters he would find a brown counter worth 500 dollars.
The dealer wasn't blind - the brown counter was placed under the red ones during the whole game. However, the red ones were piled up and pushed a bit further than the brown counter. This way the brown one got invisible for the dealer.
If Marcus didn't win he would replace the pile with the three red and the brown counters with a pile with only red ones in the very moment the dealer turned to the roulette to see the winning number. This way Marcus would only loose 15 dollars.
The essence of this swindle trick naturally is an optical illusion.
The Master speaks
The swindle made Marcus travel around the world. Several casinos in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, London and Monte Carlo have given their share to Marcus’ earnings.
Many of those swindlers that the casinos detect are poor players who see cheating as a quick way to make a lot of money. These swindlers are desperate, poorly prepared and therefore they act stupidly making them easy to detect. Marcus was'nt like this - he was a good player, and besides that he was part of a team of swindlers who were all very skilful.
The casinos are well aware that swindlers are hard to get rid off. Therefore the casinos use a lot of money to install anti-cheat systems. One of the weapons the casinos use is a system that recognizes those swindlers who's pictures are already in the database. Another weapon is to place a chip in the counters that sends a signal to the dealer on how many counters a player has played and the value of the counters.
Marcus does'nt believe in the anti-cheating systems. ”No person alive has been detected by the recognizing sytem, and it's not even necessary dressing up in foolish dress. That system isn't better than those people who operates it".
”Within a short time the swindlers have come up with a way to change the signal from the chips in the counters and hereby cheat the croupier. Technology can't beat the swindlers. At any time I will be able to walk into a casino and make one of my tricks and get out of there before they detect me discovering that I have cheated them big time", Marcus says.
However, Richard Marcus' cheatings did stop. He was discovered and sued. Today he publishes books about swindle - once a swindler always a swindler!
