Before Annette Obrestad could be elected as the winner of the WSOPE title on the Empire Casino in London she went though a four hour heads up against the local John Tabatabai, who wasn't defeated before hand number 211, where he couldn't beat Annette's three sevens. The victory gave Annette £1 million and a few records. Thus, Annette Obrestad is not only the first female winner of a WSOP bracelet, she also is the youngest winner ever She won the title just two days before she turned 19.
It all began with bowling
Annette_15’s career began quite another place than behind the computer screen. Actually the Norwegian girl acquired the taste for online gambling in the local bowling center. She had been playing bowling here for several years until she one day spotted an advert for an online gambling site. Since she was a child she she had been playing cards with her dad. She wasn't very good at this, but she couldn't help thinking about the advert so she took the chance and started playing online.
Annette had to figt to make it in online gambling.
” I asked my mum for money so I could gamble on the Internet. She refused, so in the beginning I only played free-rolls, but as time went by I began winning real money. Since that happend my account has just been growing.
Annette had her big break through in 2006, when she changed strategy:
”I started to be more aggressive when I played and I took a lot more chances. I found out that taking chances was good, and as time went by I made it far in a lot of tournaments”.

No more school
Annette_15 has won so much money that she doesn't do much besides playing poker. As a result of this, she doesn't go to school. She says:
”I've skipped education. I was so tired of it”.
This attitude has been discussed among many Norwegians. Probably Annette's parents has been discussing this as well, but it seems that their attitude has changed since Annette asked for money to play for some years ago. Today her parents are very supportive saying that:
”We are really positive about Annette's choice. We support her in everything she does, and we know that she does well, and that she doesn't spend her money on silly stuff”.
Maybe it's a good thing for Annettes' parents to support their daughter. It seems that Annette wants to pay back for all their support. Anyways she plans to buy a big house for her and her parents. She has no plans on how to spend the rest of the money. She just won the money so sudden that she has planned how to spend the money. She never thought it would be possible to win this. She had the following comments on her own performance.
”This is cracy. What am I suppose to say? I never thought this would happen”. Moreover she says: ”This means so much for me, it's the best thing that could ever happen - it's the biggest tournament”.
It seems that we'll see Annette Obrestad a lot more in the future and the sceptics can no longer be in doubt that Annette_15 is a real girl and not just a trick. |
