The challenge of sports betting is to collect and analyze
information and then make a sound judgement on what
to bet on, what type of bet to place and how much. To
create an opportunity to be a winner, you need to take
into account three main factors, analyze them and act
on your findings accordingly. These are:
1. The odds offer (Price)
2. The value of the odds (overpriced
or underpriced?)
3. The type of bet (single, multiple,
combination, etc.)
The odds offer has to be at least 2:1
to make it worthwhile. If necessary, choose a selection
with a slightly higher risk to prop up the price.
The value of the odds must be such that
the sportsbook's commission is to a minimum, if at all.
Some lines get 'steamed' unnecessarily. When this happens,
the 'favorite' price lengthens. Take advantage of those
situations.
Three type of bets seem to stand out as a sensible combination
to use because they are simple, not too difficult to
win and have good winning potential: the Straight bet,
the Doubles and the Future.
PLACING A BET
This short guide was written specifically for betting at Ladbrokes.com, but the
way of betting is very similar on most of the sites we recommend.
Deposit money
To start betting you need to deposit money to the betting room. On
ladbrokes the minimum deposit is £5 (or equivalent). To deposit funds
click on the ‘Your Account' button at the top of the screen. Then click
on Deposit. This will take you through to the card registration screen where
you will need to enter your card details and submit the amount you wish to
deposit. The transfer of money to your ladbrokes.com account will appear as
Ladbrokes.com on your payment card statement.
Please note that you can only register one payment card to your account.
If you wish to change the card you have registered, you must withdraw any outstanding
funds back to the original card. Once the balance is zero contact Ladbrokes Customer
Services and after checking a few Personal Details with you they will reset your
account to allow you to register a new card.
This procedure ensures that they are able to protect the confidentiality
of your account and minimise the risk of fraud.
Place a single bet
Pick a sport, then the event that you wish to bet on from the ‘Get Straight
To Your Bet' drop down menu. When you have chosen your selection click on BET.
Your selection will then automatically appear on your Betting Slip.
If you are betting on a horse race you may have a choice of taking an Early
Price (EP) or a Starting Price (SP). Click on either the price or SP to make
your choice. Click on either Win or Each Way. Enter the amount you want to
stake in the box provided.
To place the bet, click on the Bet Now button, check the details which pop
up, and click "OK" if you're happy or if you wish to change the details
click "Cancel". You will now see the details of your successfully
placed bets with your potential winnings.
Placing a bet on more than one selection across several events
This is known as Multiple betting.
Follow the same steps as for a single bet (detailed above) until the betting
slip appears. Then click on the "Add to Multiple" button which will
reveal all of the selections you have added in this way. When you have added
as many selections as you wish, click on the "Bet" button to reveal
a selection of possible multiple bets. Complete stakes in the stake boxes of
the bets you require, and select win or each-way (if appropriate). Then you're
ready to confirm your bet by clicking on "Place Bet", check the details
which pop up, and click "OK" if you're happy.
How do I know if my bet is on?
You will know that your bet has been processed when after clicking on OK to
process your bet, your betting slip will reappear with confirmation that
your bet has been placed. Your betting slip will also have a Receipt number
individual to that slip.
Should you have any concerns that your bet has not been processed correctly
go to the Your Account button at the top of the screen and enter the date when
you placed your bet. Details of all bets processed will appear on your screen.
Only bets that appear on your Account History screen are valid transactions.
Can I cancel a bet?
Once you have clicked on OK at the final stage of processing your bet and you
have received confirmation that your bet has been accepted it is too late to
cancel the transaction.
How do I withdraw my winnings?
You can withdraw up to £2000
(or equivalent) per day from your
Internet account. To withdraw funds,
click on the 'Your Account' button
in the top right corner of your
screen. Then click on Withdraw
at the top of the pop-up window
and enter how much you would like
to withdraw. The funds will then
be sent back you, you, dependent
on the type of card you have used
to open your account..
