Bingo player celebrates 106 years birthday

Ada Barclay, a woman from the Scottish town of Johnstone, has just celebrated her 106th birthday at the nursing home of Cochrane Care. The reason she has reached such an age and still has her good health and good spirits, is that she stills plays bingo, she says.

According to Ada's daughter, May, who is 84 years old, the record breaking bingo player has a great thirst for life, and she does everything she can to keep her brain sharp and participate in social activities. Ada still does her exercise and regularly goes to bingo. The bingo game especially would be a great way to keep the brain in great form as it requires a relatively large portion of concentration to follow the game. A player must both listen for what numbers to clutter, and cross them off the bingo board and much more. All at the same time.

Although she now sits in a wheelchair and she is dependent on caregivers, Ada is still going strong, and she is a wonderful example of how important the occasional bingo game is for mental health, especially when age starts to kick in.
