The young and wealthy plays online bingo

The leading market research company Mintel has just released the results of their latest survey about the online bingo industry. The survey showed that more and more young professionals are picking up online bingo.

The report showed that the amount of players playing online bingo under the age of 45 has increased by 62% over the last 10 years, which pretty much is the entire life time of the game. The social demographic is changing too, with more and more white collar professionals and skilled workers joining the fun. This group of players are up from 11% five years ago to 38% today.

That means that 700.000 of the 3.4 million online bingo players are young professionals between 18 and 25. The increased number of young people is perhaps because of the easy availability to the internet everywhere. Young people are keener to embracing new technologies when they become available to them.

The online bingo rooms also provide the opportunity for the players to socialise while playing a casual game of online bingo. The big online and offline bingo provider Gala & Mecca have seen a large online presence but a decline in their land based activities, probably due to the smoking ban.
