The online casinos and betting industry has been under attack the last few months because the online casino and betting industry has been accused of contributing to the increasingly high level of corruption in the teams and sporting industry. Several governments have accused the casino and betting industry and a lot of the sponsorship deals a lot of the companies have with the sports teams have been criticized. The Remote Gambling Association (RGA) released a report recently about the level of funding the betting and casino companies provide to the sporting teams. The online casinos and betting companies have been under a lot of pressure to pay additional fees and taxes to the sporting regulatory bodies to help them ensure that corruption and illegal activities are not taking place in conjunction with the sporting events. The RGA has a very different perspective on the situation and the Associations report notes that sponsorship deals and other forms of advertising within various European countries already contribute a very significant $4.75 billion annually in funds to the sporting teams and the industry. This is the reason why the RGA believes that the online casinos and betting sites are doing their part already to support the sporting industry and that the corruption has actually been quite over blown recently. The lower levels of corruption than reported combined with companies already supporting the sports teams are the two key reasons the RGA feels that any additional taxes placed on the gambling industry is unfair and unnecessary.
