Spokeswoman from Mansion denies rumours of exiting Gibraltar.

Rumours about online gambling company Mansion pulling out of the Gibraltar territory was described by the Gibraltar news service, “Panorama”, this week.

There has been disturbing rumours about Mansion planning to close down its operations in Gibraltar and moving to Singapore and very surprisingly Israel as well. The company has nearly 150 employees in the British territory.

The rumours have created fear of Gibraltar losing even more jobs – 888.com withdrew from the country earlier in 2008, which caused loss of jobs back then, and Party Gaming has also been cutting down on staff. Some employees have been told to prepare for a possible move during the next months according to unnamed sources.

Despite the rumours a spokeswoman from Mansion denied them, telling news reporters from Panorama, that the Mansion (Gibraltar) Limited was "proud to be operating in Gibraltar" and that they weren’t moving anywhere. She added that the staff from the IT-team was being cut down, and that the group was hiring more staff for the sales and marketing department.

The news service reports that the staff of Mansions operations in Gibraltar counts 18 Gibraltarians, 104 British, 4 Spanish and 23 persons of other nationalities.
