PartyGaming’s very popular online poker room, PartyPoker, has won the competition and been awarded with the prize as the best “Poker Operator of the Year” by EGR Awards. EGR Awards is the industry’s online casino gaming award. The gambling group’s poker platform has been very resilient throughout 2009 and has been able to hold on to its position in the non-US markets. The company has acquired some gaming companies to complement its poker and online casino products and they are still working on getting making gaming operation in the US possible in the future. The poker director of PartyGaming said when he received the trophy: “We work very hard to try and stay ahead of the game, and it's great to be noticed for that." 888 was also in the field as a nominee, because its poker liquidity was boosted this year by the new deal made by Dragonfish with Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment in Europe. Gaming Media Group was also one of the names on the list, thanks to their boost in poker revenues of 65% last year, driven by innovative solutions such as ThePlayerZone, a fully customisable gaming portal that provides players with the information they need to improve their games. Ladbrokes changed from their own network and joined the Microgaming network in February and blasted its daily peek number of poker players from 5000 to 17.000. They also invented a series of new promotional events such as the Ladbrokes Irish Poker Festival, Poker Experience and Vegas Dream. PKR was also on the list with their always innovative 3D online poker offerings with a emphasis on ‘player community’ that has included social networking features, a vibrant forum, editorial, podcasts and an online TV station.
