PKR and Matchroom Sport have announced that they will be hosting the PKR Heads-Up Grand Slam in London from October 8-10 2009. The event is only open for invited players and takes place at the 3 Mills Studio. 32 players will be invited to the event that has a $100.000 first prize from a prize pool of $350.000 where PKR are adding $30.000 to the pot. With a deep structure, the players will have a good chance of showing off their skills and the knockout format will most definitely result in some interesting clashes. The starting draw of the tournament will be shown live on PKR.com and will be hosted by Jesse May. Some of the big names invited to the tournament are: Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, Luke "Full Flush" Schwartz, Annette Obrestad, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Vicky Coren, Nam Le, Sammy "Any Two" George, Roland de Wolfe, JC Tran, Andrew Feldman and Roberto Romanello confirmed to take part and more top stars will be announced in September. The tournament is still open for players who qualify online through some of the satellites at PRK.com. The managing director of Matchroom Sport said: "We have been looking at creating a heads-up event for a while now and I'm excited that we have the formula just right. Shows such as the NBC Heads-Up Championship have attracted huge ratings and we expect this event to continue that trend. There will be a plethora of poker talent gathering in London in October and the names that have already committed look to provide a breathtaking line up."
