PokerStars recently hosted the world's largest online poker tournament ever to go down at an online or offline poker site. The tournament had a buy-in $1 and a first prize of $50.000. The winner this time came from Germany where oskar69 was the best out of the 149.196 players ready at the tables on December 27th.

The previous two records were set back in December 2008 and July 2009 at Poker Stars as well with 35.000 and 65.000 players respectively. The online poker group was absolutely sure that thanks to their marketing campaign of the huge tournament and the Christmas holidays upon us would ensure that the record would be broken. These tournaments are sanctioned by the Guinness Book of World Records and Poker Stars specifically designs the tournament to accurate record the number of online casino poker players competing. Besides the number of players the number of countries they came from was just as impressive because 155 nations were represented in the tournament.
