Facebook on their way with real money poker?

12. January 2012Back to news overview

Facebook, which long has had an evil eye on online poker games for money, is now apparently about to thaw on the issue. According to rumors, in particular, PokerNews reports, that the popular social network right now is in negotiations with several poker sites, including 888, PokerStars and Gamesys, to launch poker for money on Facebook.

Poker games will initially be launched in England, to serve as a sort of test market before considering whether the product should be extended to other countries where it is legal to play poker for real money.

Facebook's plan is reportedly offering 8 licenses for different online poker providers, each of which is allowed to integrate their applications on the social network. However, there is still no published date for the implementation of online poker on the popular site.

Today the only poker that exists on Facebook is free game where you play solely for fun. Zynga Casino, which is the operator, currently provides Facebook’s free casino and poker games, has more than 30 million players each month, so there is a large potential market for the new poker product.
