As of 2014, it's only legal to provide online casinos in three states, but according to the American investment firm Morgan Stanley that amount will change in 2020, from three to 20 states, which will have legalised online casino games, which would obviously result in a higher revenue.
Still a small industry
Currently, the industry is still considered small and it only turns over an approximate amount of $10M per month - around $120M a year. That is still inferior in comparison to Europe.
The only American states that allow online casinos are: New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware.
According to Morgan Stanley there are several states who are currently in the process of legalising online casino games and California is likely amongst the next in line to legalise poker - so it would be safe to assume that casinos are not far behind.
Not everyone believes in Morgan Stanley
Unfortunately, not everyone is buying what the American investment firm Morgan Stanley is selling when it comes to their prediction in this case.
Deutsche Bank and Eilers Research, which both have experience with the online gaming industry, predict that only eight states will legalise online casinos by 2020 and that the market value would only be around $2B - less that half than what Morgan Stanley has predicted.
